Curriculum

The Swiss International School in Qatar (SISQ) is a Candidate School for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, Diploma Programme, and is pursuing authorization as an IB World School*. IB World Schools share a common philosophy and commitment to provide a high-quality, challenging and truly international education. This is at the very core of what we aim to offer children aged 3 to 18 years living in Doha.

The IB curricula originates from Geneva in Switzerland, and was founded at the world’s first international school, the International School of Geneva, in 1968. Catering for an increasingly international and diverse student base, teachers at the school wanted to provide international families with a high quality curricula tailored for a global world. At the very core of the curricula is the defined mission to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who will help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. As a Swiss international school, we have incorporated the IB mission into our philosophy and approach.

Central to all the three IB Programmes; IB Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes, is the development of internationally minded students who will go on to become global citizens. IB prepares students for the intellectual challenges of further education, focusing on the development of the whole child, both in the classroom and the world outside.

Students at International Baccalaureate (IB) World Schools are given a unique education. They will:

  • be encouraged to think independently and drive their own learning
  • take part in programmes of education that can lead them to some of the highest ranking universities around the world
  • become more culturally aware, through the development of additional languages
  • be able to engage with people in an increasingly globalized, rapidly changing world

* Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its academic programmes. Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.
