Welcome from the Secondary School Principal

Welcome to the Secondary School at SISQ

At SISQ, we are more than just a school – we are a community dedicated to nurturing young minds and fostering a passion for learning. Our secondary school proudly offers the prestigious Middle Years Programme (MYP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, providing students with a holistic educational experience that goes beyond the classroom.

The IB Diploma is considered the gold standard for secondary education and as such is demanding but also very rewarding. It is recognised worldwide and highly regarded by all leading universities. Research shows that IB Diploma students go on to outperform students with other comparable qualifications, at university level.

Our Vision

SISQ envisions a world where learners are not only academically accomplished but also fulfilled, inspired, and prepared to make a positive impact. Our goal is to develop well-rounded individuals who possess a deep understanding of global issues, a strong sense of self, and a commitment to excellence.

Embracing Diversity, Honoring Traditions

Situated in the vibrant cultural mosaic of Qatar, SISQ is a reflection of the rich diversity that defines our world. We take pride in our multicultural community, where students from various backgrounds come together to learn, share, and grow. While we celebrate our global connections, we also hold a deep respect for local traditions and customs, fostering an environment where cultural understanding and unity flourish.

The MYP and IB Experience

Our cornerstone educational programs – the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) – empower students to become lifelong learners and compassionate citizens of the world. The MYP challenges students to think critically, engage in meaningful inquiry, and develop a strong foundation of knowledge across disciplines. In the IB Diploma Programme, students delve into deeper intellectual explorations, cultivating their analytical and research skills while preparing for higher education and beyond.

“The findings indicate that the IB students of this sample were much more likely than other students to achieve good honours degrees.” (Frank-Gemmill, G., 2013. The IB Diploma and UK university degree qualifications. Journal of Research in International Education)

“The graduation rate of DP candidates at institutions considered in this sample was consistently higher than the institutional rate. The percent difference ranged from 5% to 35% for the 4-year graduation rate (University of Virginia; University of South Florida, respectively), and from 4% to 29% for the 6-year graduation rate (University of Virginia and University of California, Los Angeles; University of South Florida, respectively).” (Postsecondary Educational Attainment of IB Diploma Programme Candidates from US High Schools)

Engaging Beyond the Classroom

At SISQ, education extends beyond textbooks and lectures. We believe in hands-on learning, creative expression, and experiential opportunities. Our school encourages students to actively participate in extracurricular activities and community service, fostering personal growth, leadership skills, and a sense of global responsibility.

A Message to Parents and Guardians

We recognise the pivotal role parents and guardians play in a student's education. We value your partnership and commitment to your child's journey of growth and discovery. Through open communication and collaboration, we aim to create a supportive network that ensures each student's success.

Welcome to SISQ, where curiosity is nurtured, diversity is celebrated, and excellence is pursued with determination. Join us on this exciting educational adventure as we shape future leaders who are ready to make a positive impact on the world.

Sincerely,

Dan Dorran
