Home Learning

The very youngest children start school having already learnt so much from birth and in most cases at home. SISQ encourages the continuation of this learning beyond the classroom and believes that a collaborative home-school relationship is a means to enrich a child’s learning experience.

Two important elements of home learning are reading and speaking. Weekly communication from teachers will include conversation starters and questions that parents can use to engage their child in dialogue about their learning. Ideas will also be provided to demonstrate how connections between classroom and home learning can be made. Finally read, read, read!! Books and print help to grow and reinforce all aspects of literacy.

Read to your child, let them read to you, read with them side by side and watch their confidence and skills grow.
