Our Learning Community

At the Swiss International School in Qatar (SISQ), we are committed to providing a friendly and supportive learning community set in an environment that excites, inspires and challenges every student to excel academically and socially. Our highly qualified teachers help nurture and develop the talents and interests of our students, and prepare them to become lifelong learners who contribute in our global community.

The school consists of three departments:

  • Junior School for children aged 3 to 11 years
  • Senior School for girls aged 12 to 18 years
  • Senior School for boys aged 12 to 18 years

Children in our Junior School will be taught in a co-educational classroom environment, whilst our older students in the Senior Schools will benefit from the advantages of a single-sex classroom environment. Whilst SISQ is a co-educational learning community, we recognize that there are proven advantages to allowing older boys and girls to develop and learn in a single-sex environment. Studies have shown that boys benefit from more action-based learning methods when they are older, whilst girls perform better academically, particularly in sciences and maths, in a more focused all-girls learning environment. Providing a single-sex classroom experience at our Senior Schools allows us to address different learning needs; adapt our learning methods to cater for more structure with boys and more connection based learning with girls; and break down gender stereotypes to allow both boys and girls to take initiative and leadership roles.

Our wide range of extra-curricular activities and events beyond the classrooms will ensure a thriving and nurturing SISQ school community for all our learners from the age of 3 to 18 years.
